Karate Combat president fires back at WingedC pit stunt
Karate Combat president Asim Zaidi reacted harshly after WingedC unauthorized entered the fighting pit during a Miami event on Saturday, endangering fighter safety.
Miami Incident
Karate Combat president Asim Zaidi expressed strong disapproval following the actions of WingedC, also known as Malcolm Schuyler, during the promotion's Saturday event in Miami. The former Karate Combat veteran unexpectedly entered the pit while a light heavyweight bout between ex-UFC fighters Claudio Ribeiro and Curtis Millender was underway. Schuyler pretended to be blind, prompting the referee to halt the fight until he was removed.
Zaidi's Response
Zaidi spoke with MMA Fighting about the incident and delivered sharp criticism. He highlighted two major concerns: fighter safety and potential legal consequences for his organization. The promoter had signed a nine-year lease for the KC Apex facility just 48 hours before the event. Zaidi emphasized that regulatory action could jeopardize his promoter license, leaving him responsible for years of venue payments.
Termination
When Schuyler called to apologize, Zaidi informed him he was immediately fired. The president stressed he would never request such a stunt. WingedC later claimed on social media that he was assaulted by Millender at the fighter hotel.
