Takedown Policy for Publishers

Takedown Policy — Content Removal Requests
k1.nl respects intellectual property rights. Although we do not copy original articles — the content on k1.nl consists of AI-rewritten summaries — we understand that publishers may object to their material being processed. This page explains how to submit a removal request.
---
1. What We Publish
k1.nl does not publish verbatim copies of articles from external publishers. Our automated system:
1. reads a publicly available article or feed entry; 2. has it rewritten in new wording by an AI system (Anthropic Claude); 3. publishes the rewritten summary with a mandatory source attribution linking to your original article.
Facts and news events in an article are not protected by copyright as such. The creative expression of your editors is not reproduced word for word. We nonetheless honour removal requests as a matter of policy and to avoid further dispute.
---
2. How to Submit a Removal Request
Send an e-mail to kerempeker2@gmail.com with the subject line: "Takedown Request — [your domain name]".
Please include:
1. Your identity: Your name, organisation, and role, and evidence of your authority to act on behalf of the rights holder (e.g. confirmation that you are the publisher or an authorised representative). 2. The original source: The URL of your original article or feed entry to which your request relates. 3. The article on k1.nl: The URL of the article on k1.nl whose removal you are requesting. 4. Grounds for your request: A brief description of why you are requesting removal (e.g. copyright infringement, opt-out from indexing). 5. Contact details at which we can reach you.
A sworn declaration or notarised statement is not required for EU requests, but we reserve the right to request additional information if authority is not clear.
---
3. Our Response
We aim to respond within 7 business days of receiving a complete request. Depending on our assessment, we may:
- Remove the article(s) from k1.nl;
- Block the source URL pattern from future ingestion (so that your domain is no longer processed by our aggregator);
- Provide an explanation of why we consider the request to be unfounded, with an opportunity for further discussion.
We prefer amicable resolution over legal proceedings.
---
4. Full Opt-Out for Publishers
If you wish k1.nl to permanently cease processing your domain, please state this in your removal request. We will add your domain to our internal block list, meaning no article from your domain will be fetched or processed by our aggregator in the future.
Alternatively: ensure that your RSS feed or website carries a correct `X-Robots-Tag: noindex` or `robots.txt` exclusion for automated crawlers. We comply with standard `robots.txt` directives.
---
5. Counter-Notice Procedure — For Non-EU Publishers
If you are a publisher based in the United States and wish to follow the counter-notice procedure under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), please send a written counter-notice to kerempeker2@gmail.com containing:
1. Your name, address, and electronic signature. 2. Identification of the removed material and its location before removal. 3. A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief that the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification. 4. Your consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for your district.
We will forward the counter-notice to the original complainant and may restore the material after 10–14 business days if the complainant has not initiated legal proceedings.
---
6. Repeat Infringer Policy
k1.nl operates a zero-tolerance policy for repeat infringement. If a source is found to repeatedly carry material that infringes third-party rights, that source may be permanently excluded from our aggregator.
---
7. No Liability for Third-Party Sources
k1.nl is not responsible for the content of the public sources we index. If you have a complaint about an article from one of our source publishers, please contact that publisher directly.
